Cape San Blas is the open-beach version of a Forgotten Coast wedding: Gulf, lighthouse, and wind that does not care about your timeline. It photographs like the brochure. It also needs permits, a realistic start time, and a town nearby when guests want dinner that is not sand.
We plan Cape San Blas ceremonies and the weekend around them. Port St. Joe is usually the lodging hub. We are the planner and coordinator — not the officiant, not the DJ.

Cape San Blas: lighthouse postcard, peninsula logistics
The Cape is open Gulf, the lighthouse, houses in the trees, and wind that does not care about your arch. There is no downtown to absorb overflow. Port St. Joe is the working town behind almost every Cape weekend.
Permits: park, public beach, house, HOA
St. Joseph Peninsula / park stretches, public beach accesses, and rental-house lawns each have a different “you cannot do that here” list — pets, driving on the beach, alcohol, how far from the dunes, and when setup may start. We get the rule from the property or the permit office, not from Pinterest.
Wind, tide, rain
This is the wind-forward shore. Lightweight décor becomes a projectile. High-peak tents take longer to stand in Cape wind than a city quote assumes. Tide still moves the chair line. Rain backup is a house, a porch you actually control, or a delayed start — written, not crowd-sourced at 3 p.m.
Parking and guest transport
Beach accesses fill. House driveways do not hold a guest list. People coming from Port St. Joe or Mexico Beach need a shuttle or designated drivers on the Cape road. Ride-share will not save the grandfather in dress shoes.
Lodging and vendor travel
Sleep the wedding party in Cape houses only if the bedroom math is real. Everyone else usually clusters in Port St. Joe. Florists, catering, and hair typically stage from town and drive out. That drive belongs on the 6–8 week timeline, including the truck that has to turn around on a sand road.

Do we need a permit for a Cape San Blas beach ceremony?
Public beach and park stretches have rules about setup, driving, pets, and how far from the dunes you may stand. House lawns and HOA property have a different list. We confirm the actual permission before the florist builds something you cannot place.
Why is wind a planning problem here?
The Cape is open Gulf. Afternoon wind will move arches, table numbers, and sound. St. Joe Bay (WindMark) is usually kinder. A Cape ceremony needs weighted décor and a written backup — a porch, a house, or a delayed start — chosen before Saturday.
Where do guests eat and sleep if we marry on the Cape?
There is no downtown to absorb overflow. Most guest rooms and sit-down dinners live in Port St. Joe. Hair, florals, and catering often stage from town. Build shuttle time into the timeline; ride-share is not a plan.
