Port St. Joe Wedding Planner
Forgotten Coast Wedding Company
If you are choosing one home base for a Forgotten Coast wedding weekend, Port St. Joe is usually it. The ceremony can still happen on WindMark or out the Cape. The town is what keeps guests fed, housed, and un-stuck when someone needs a grocery run, a pharmacy, or a Plan B.
We plan and coordinate Port St. Joe weddings — full planning, partial planning, and day-of. We are not the officiant and not the DJ. We run the weekend so you are not managing vendors from a rental house.
Why couples base here
Port St. Joe has sit-down restaurants, shops, a grocery store, emergency services, and lodging that can actually hold a guest list. Mexico Beach is prettier in a quiet way. St. George Island is more of an island weekend. Port St. Joe is where the logistics work, then you drive a few minutes for the Gulf photos you came for.
What we handle
- Ceremony stretch: WindMark Beach, Cape San Blas, a house lawn, or downtown
- Guest lodging and a realistic weekend map (welcome dinner, ceremony, brunch)
- Local vendors who already know this coast
- Tide, wind, and a rain/heat backup that is not “we will figure it out Saturday morning”
Read Mexico Beach vs Port St. Joe if you are still choosing a base, then look at WindMark and Cape San Blas for ceremony options.

How Port St. Joe actually works as a wedding weekend
Port St. Joe is the logistics hub of this coast. Downtown Reid Avenue, a grocery, sit-down restaurants, a pharmacy, and lodging that can hold more than a single beach house — that is why destination weekends base here even when the ceremony is on WindMark or Cape San Blas.
Venue vs public space
George Core Park at the Cape San Blas Lighthouse is a city park on St. Joseph Bay, not a private estate. A park rental, setup window, and a rain room are required. A house lawn, the Garden Club, Port Inn’s hall, or a bayfront venue such as The View at St. Joe Bay are different products with different guest-count ceilings. We will not treat a public park like a ballroom.
Permits and rain
City park use is a permit conversation. Historic or indoor rooms downtown are the honest rain plan — not “we will stand closer together.” Summer afternoons squall. Write the backup address and tell the photographer, florist, and catering the same one.
Tide, wind, parking, lodging
Bay-side ceremonies at the lighthouse are usually kinder than open Gulf, but wind still exists. Downtown parking is street and small lots, not a resort garage. Cluster guests at Hotel Saint Joseph, nearby inns, or houses in Port St. Joe / St. Joe Beach so the welcome dinner and the ceremony are not a 40-minute hunt. US-98 is the spine; build buffer.
Vendor travel
Most florists, catering, and hair who work this coast already stage from Port St. Joe. That is an advantage. Out-of-town vendors who only know 30A will underestimate drive time to the Cape and the island. Wedding coordination here starts 6–8 weeks out so those confirmations exist on paper.

Questions for this town
Should Port St. Joe be our home base even if the ceremony is on the Cape?
Usually yes. Port St. Joe has the grocery, restaurants, pharmacy, and lodging that can actually hold a guest list. Many weekends photograph on Cape San Blas or WindMark and still sleep and eat in town.
Is George Core Park a private venue?
No. George Core Park by the Cape San Blas Lighthouse is a city park. A park rental and a rain backup are planning items, not a listing photo. We confirm rules and setup timing with the city, not with a stock image.
When does wedding coordination start if we base here?
Professional coordination begins 6–8 weeks before the wedding: onboarding, timeline, and vendor confirmation. The wedding day is execution. We do not treat Port St. Joe weekends as a same-morning job.
Need an officiant? You Had Me At I Do is a separate officiant company (related ownership, different service). Forgotten Coast Wedding Company plans and coordinates; we do not officiate, and we do not DJ.
